Prepare for the Day of the LORD - Part 1

    Woe to you who desire the day of the LORD!
For what good is the day of the LORD to you?
It will be darkness, and not light.
...
    Is not the day of the LORD darkness, and not light?
Is it not very dark, with no brightness in it?

Amos 5:18,20 (NKJV)

The Day of the LORD is the day of final judgment. For those whose condemnation is sure, and for those whose verdict is uncertain, it is a day of dread -- "darkness, and not light... very dark, with no brightness in it."

Yet for those whose judgment has already been laid to Jesus Christ, it is a day of rejoicing over final justice:
    Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns;
The world also is firmly established,
It shall not be moved;
He shall judge the peoples righteously."
    Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;
    Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it.
Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD.
    For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth.
He shall judge the world with righteousness,
And the peoples with His truth.
    Psalm 96:10-13 (NKJV)

So, let us encourage each other, "exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25b NKJV):
"Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!" (Amos 4:12b NKJV)

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
