The Promise of the LORD's Shepherd-Ruler - Part 4

Marshal your troops, O city of troops,
for a siege is laid against us.
They will strike Israel's ruler
on the cheek with a rod.
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times. [or from days of eternity]"
Therefore Israel will be abandoned
until the time when she who is in labor gives birth
and the rest of his brothers return
    to join the Israelites.
He will stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the LORD,
in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God.

Micah 5:4a (NIV)

In just this half-verse of Micah's prophecy, the God-Man nature of the Shepherd-Ruler is revealed.
He will stand and shepherd his flock with:
- faith in God (as Man)
... in the strength of the LORD... his God

The Shepherd-Ruler will trust in the LORD for strength to carry out His mission.

- fullness of glory (as God)
... in the majesty of the name of the LORD

The Shepherd-Ruler will display the divine glory as He does carry out His mission.

For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily...   Colossians 2:9 (NKJV)

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
