The Promise of the LORD's Shepherd-Ruler - Part 5

Marshal your troops, O city of troops,
for a siege is laid against us.
They will strike Israel's ruler
on the cheek with a rod.
"But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times. [or from days of eternity]"
Therefore Israel will be abandoned
until the time when she who is in labor gives birth
and the rest of his brothers return
    to join the Israelites.
He will stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the LORD,
in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God.
And they will live securely, for then his greatness
will reach to the ends of the earth.
And he will be their peace.

Micah 5:4b-5 (NIV)

According to the prophecy of Micah, this Shepherd-Ruler, whose origins are from of old, from days of eternity, incarnate to our world of a woman in the little town of Bethlehem, will be both human, pastoring his flock in the strength of the LORD, and divine, displaying the majesty of the name of the LORD; and his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth.

And he will be their peace.
- peace with God

- peace with men

For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.   Colossians 1:19-20 (NIV)

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
